How it works

One loop, from lights out to first coffee

Most apps treat sleep, dreams and mornings as separate chores. DreamGate treats them as one connected rhythm, so every night and every morning is worth something.

  1. 01 · Night

    Practice, then rest

Follow a short guide before bed. If you wake at 3 a.m., DreamGate opens in soft red on true black, so a quick glance doesn't flood your eyes with bright light.

  2. 02 · Waking

    Press, hold, speak

Pick up your phone, press anywhere on the screen and talk. No typing, no forms and no blank page while you're still half asleep.

  3. 03 · Morning

    Sorted for you

Dream fragments go to your journal, with recurring themes noted over time. Errands, ideas and worries become a tidy focus list for the day.

Try the dual-path sorter

Remember a dream or wake up blank. Either way, the morning counts.

Pick a sample morning or type your own, then sort it. This demo runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type leaves this page.

Path B

A simplified preview. In the app, transcription and sorting are designed to happen on your phone.

    Practice library

Techniques from sleep research, fully unlocked

Step-by-step text and audio guides for the methods researchers have actually studied. No locked modules and no premium tier for the basics.

    Free

    Basics

    Foundational sleep hygiene

Consistent timing, a dark and cool room, and a wind-down routine. The groundwork that makes everything else possible, and the best place to start.

    Free

    WBTB

    Wake Back to Bed

Wake gently after about five to six hours, stay quietly awake for a short while, then return to sleep, when REM sleep tends to be most plentiful. Usually paired with MILD or SSILD.

    Free

    MILD

    Mnemonic Induction of Lucid Dreams

A prospective-memory technique developed by sleep researcher Stephen LaBerge. When you wake from a dream, you rehearse it and set a clear intention to notice the next time you're dreaming.

    Free

    SSILD

    Senses Initiated Lucid Dream

Cycle your attention gently through sight, sound and body sensation as you drift off. Simple, quiet and low-effort, with a soft audio guide to pace you.

No technique can promise a lucid dream, and that's okay. DreamGate treats practice as curiosity, not performance. When you're short on sleep, rest always wins.

Walk through a night with the methods

    Red night mode

    Built for 3 a.m.

Bright, blue-rich light at night is the kind most likely to wake you up. So when you open DreamGate in the middle of the night, it switches to deep red on true black. No white screens and nothing to jolt you fully awake, whether you're doing WBTB or just noting a thought before you drift back off.

    • Deep red (#FF1A1A) on true black (#000000)
    • Large, calm type you can read with half-open eyes
    • No flashing, ever. At most an optional slow glow, off by default
    • Switches on by itself during late-night use

    Rest first

Your sleep matters more than any streak

“Rest and recovery come before every feature, every metric and every practice goal.”

DreamGate's founding principle, built into how the app behaves

    Steps back when you're tired

If your recent nights have been short or you keep waking up groggy, practice cues switch off and DreamGate sticks to calm, restful audio until you've caught up.

    Leaves early sleep alone

Optional night-time cues are limited to the later part of the night, after about five hours, when most of your deepest sleep is already behind you.

    Fades, never jolts

Audio stays soft, fades out gradually and stops on its own within 15 minutes. No alarms and no sudden sounds in the dark.

    No scores, no streaks

No sleep grades to judge you, no streaks to break and no “you failed” messages. A blank morning is still a good morning.

    Careful setup

First-run questions let anyone with a history of sleep paralysis, seizures or light sensitivity keep the more stimulating features switched off.

    Never behind a paywall

Every safety feature is part of the free core app. Protecting your rest isn't an upgrade.

    Privacy charter

No accounts. No ads. 100% yours.

Your journals, voice notes and practice logs belong to you. DreamGate is designed to work without accounts, ad trackers or data sales, and without servers of ours holding your entries.

    • Encrypted on your phone

Your journal is designed to be stored encrypted on your device, not on our servers. DreamGate doesn't run servers that collect it, so we never receive a copy.

    • No account needed

No sign-up, no email address and no password. Open the app and start.

    • No tracking code

No analytics SDKs, ad pixels or third-party services quietly reporting what you do.

    • Yours to keep or delete

Export everything to a plain file you control whenever you like, or erase it all from the app in one step.

This website follows the same rules: no cookies, no analytics and no third-party scripts. Read the website privacy notice.

    FAQ

    Questions, answered

    When will DreamGate be available?

We're building it now, for iOS and Android. Leave your email below and we'll send one message when it launches. We'd rather get it right than rush it, so we're not promising a date yet.

    Is DreamGate a medical app?

No. DreamGate is a general wellness and self-exploration tool. It doesn't diagnose, treat or monitor any condition, including insomnia, sleep apnea, PTSD or sleep paralysis. If you're worried about your sleep, please talk to a doctor.

    Where is my data stored?

On your phone. DreamGate is designed to work without an account or a server: your journal is stored encrypted on your device, with a key that stays on that phone, and we never receive a copy.

You can export everything whenever you like, for example to move to a new phone. Exports are plain, readable files that you control, so keep them somewhere safe.

What if I don't remember any dreams?

That's exactly what the dual-path design is for. Talk about whatever is on your mind and DreamGate turns errands, ideas and worries into a focus list for the day. No streaks and no failure messages.

    Do I need a wearable?

No. The core app works with just your phone. Optional wearable sync through Apple Health and Google Health Connect is planned for later, and that data will be processed on your phone too.

    Is lucid dreaming practice safe?

Gentle practice fits easily into most people's routines, but techniques that interrupt sleep, like WBTB, can leave you tired if you overdo them. That's why DreamGate puts rest first and backs off when you're short on sleep.

If you often experience sleep paralysis, have a sleep disorder, or have epilepsy or light sensitivity, check with a doctor before trying these techniques.

    How will DreamGate make money?

The core app is free with no subscription. We plan to charge for optional extras, starting with wearable sync. We'll never sell your data, and because your journal is kept on your phone, not our servers, we don't have any to sell.
